Frank, Carol Kloss, and Alexander Wroblicky share information about the Catechetical Ministries Graduation and Certification Ceremony and Liturgy held on June 24, 2007.

Carol Kloss mentions this year's Chicago Catholic Scripture School and Escuela Bíblica graduates. She offers details about the Scripture schools and what the graduates say they have gained from the four years of participation. Alexander Wroblicky mentions those who received certification as parish catechetical leaders.

Alex continues to explore the different categories of parish catechetical leadership and what it takes for them to gain certification. Frank Koob then shares information about the process of catechist certification.

Frank Koob and Carol Kloss interview recipients of the annual Archdiocesan Catechetical Ministry Awards. First to be interviews was Katarzyna Lapsa, third grade catechist at St. Camillus, Chicago.

The interview continues with Katrarzyna Lapsa, and then Frank and Carol talk with Mary Sue Wielgus and Mike O'Malley, both members of the 13-strong RCIA team at St. Benedict, Chicago.

Frank and guest Eileen Lepore, the DRE at St. Celestine's in Elmwood Park, talked about the labyrinth prayer/meditation experience her parish is hosting from Saturday March 31 through Friday April 6. Check St. Celestine's web page for information. map.

During this program segment, Frank discussed the efforts of the Archdiocese of Chicago with three OFCYM Youth Ministry Coordinators. Joining in on the conversation were Pat Pacer, Jesus (Chuy) DeLeon, and Maria (Cooky) Perez-Eraci. The vision of youth ministry was shared as well as the work of the Coordinators with the youth ministers of the Archdiocese.

The youth ministry discussion continued in this program segment, highlighting the Youth 2000 Retreat, The NCYC Conference in the fall, and the 2008 World Youth Day. Information about all of these is available on the Youth Ministry web page.

Frank and guest host Carol Kloss talk about two upcoming events sponsored by the Chicago Catholic Scripture School: Biblical Archaeology Day at Sacred Heart, Palos Hills on March 24 and Catholics Consider Creation at Mary, Seat of Wisdom, Park Ridge on April 21.

Frank and Carol opened the topic "What adults can do for themselves during Lent" with guest Fr. Greg Friedman OFM of Franciscan Radio and producer of the popular weekly program "American Catholic Radio" for the USCCB and contributor to americancatholic.org.

The conversation switched to the local area by looking at some parish Lenten programs for adults. Ruthanne Swiatkowski discussed the Lenten series on sacraments being held at St. Francis Borgia, Chicago; Frank also mentioned the quad-parish Lenten mission facilitated by Fr. Richard T. Simon (from St. Lambert's, Skokie) being held March 12 to 15 on the Northwest Side at Our Lady of Victory, Chicago.

Frank discusses the immigration reform movement and Catholic Church teaching with Sr. Judy Dieterle, guest co-host. Sr. Judy describes the work of the Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform.

Marilu Gonzalez, a member of the local Catholic Campaign committee on immigration reform education along with Sr. Judy, describes the work of the campaign in the local area. She also gives some ideas about how the listeners might get involved.

To help explore immigration issues on national and global levels, we talk with Theresa Polk, who is on the staff of the Columban Peace, Justice, and Integrity of Creation Office in Washington, D.C.

Pat Pacer, youth ministry coordinator for Vicariate II, talks about the upcoming C3 Retreat for high school seniors and young adults to be held on December 30 at St. Thecla Parish, Chicago.

Fr. Anthony Saulaitis, S.J. joins Rosalind and Frank to discuss connections between the Christmas celebration and the meanings of the Christian concept of Reconciliation. Fr. Saulaitis is pastor of the Matulaitis Lithuanian Mission in Lemont, Illinois.

Thanksgiving can also mean sharing our "bounty" with others. Rosalind and Frank Welcome Erin Sumner of the Mission Office of the Diocese of Orlando, Florida to help bring this theme alive.

Erin Sumner presents details of the water filtration project her Diocese sponsors in the Dominican Republic which has brought about amazing health improvement.

Erin Sumner lets our audience know how they can help support this water filtration project, and how else those at the comfortable end of living can be making a difference.

Both The Chicago Catechetical Conference and the lecture "Fundamentalism: What it is and how Catholics view it" are coming up.

Ausra Karaliute of the OFCYM grew up in communist Lithuania. She tell the inspiring story about how she - and a whole Catholic people - resisted communism and held onto their faith.

Kujenga, the leadership workshop and retreat for African American youth, is planned for November 3 to 5. Kendall Mallory, a member of the planning team, shares ideas about the benefits of attending this event.

The upcoming Chicago Catechetical Conference is highlighted in a conversation with Cathy Walz, conference program coordinator. The structure and content of the CCC makes it a "must attend" for the general Catholic audience as well as catechists.

Continuing the conversation about the Chicago Catechetical Conference, we talk with Dennis Kurtz of St. Mary's Press who is giving two presentations at the CCC on using Scripture to help Youth find Jesus in their lives.

Rosalind asks Frank about The Compendium of the Catechism and the United States Catechism for Adults, both new publications of the USCCB. Frank also gives information about the Adult Faith Formation Days scheduled for September 22 and 23.
