Protecting God's Children
The Office for the Protection of Children and Youth
has been established; Archdiocesan-wide screening and training in prevention of child sex
abuse has begun.
To register for the training program, you will need a
password. For security reasons you will need to contact the Office for Catechesis
and Youth Ministry or your
Vicariate Catechetical Coordinator to obtain it.
Registration is done online at the Virtus Website. Clicking on the word
"Registration" at the left of the Virtus home page will bring up a form for
entering the password and then another form for registering yourself with Virtus.
Besides Virtus training, all volunteers who
are in contact with children must sign the Archdiocese
of Chicago Code of Conduct book, undergo a criminal
background check, and fill out the CANTS
form that needs to be sent to DCFS in Springfield with a copy on file
at the parish.
We are relying on all Catechetical Leaders to comply with
this high priority initiative. CLs can contact their VCCs
for more information.
