Placement Process
Consultants assist
people who seek positions in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Those interested must submit an
application and transcript of academic credentials.
Orientation & Ongoing
Formation
The Office offers an extensive
orientation for new catechetical leaders. This includes personal visits from a consultant
and orientation programs to introduce them to the Archdiocese of Chicago and the
catechetical ministry. In addition, ongoing formation is offered through programs such as
Spiritual Days of Reflection, development institutes and an annual Chicago Catechetical
Conference. The consultants remain in contact with each parish to support catechetical
leaders.
Special
Events and Support offered to New Catechetical Leaders
Basic
Catechetical Leadership Formation
This support program is offered to
catechetical leaders with less than two years experience. Catechetical leaders are
given the opportunity for theological formation and training to assist them with the
ministerial responsibilities of the position.
The Steps for becoming
a Catechetical Leader in the
Archdiocese of Chicago
1. Obtain, complete and return an application with resumé
to:

- Send a transcript of academic credentials from the college
or university where a Masters Degree in religious education, religious studies or
theology has been pursued.
- The Office for Catechesis will request recommendations from
those named as references by the applicant.
- Upon receipt of recommendations, the Office for Catechesis
will schedule an interview with the applicant.
- Applicants will be informed by letter as to the results of
the interview.
- Properly qualified applicants will receive information
concerning available parish positions.
- The Office for Catechesis will forward the resumé and
recommendation to parishes specified by the applicant.
- Individual parishes interview and hire as they see fit.
