Youth Ministry Positions

Full Time Youth Minister

St. Giles Parish in Oak Park seeks a full-time Youth Minister to coordinate a well-supported program for high school youth in our active parish community.  Candidates should have strong communication and leadership skills, a love for ministering to and with teens and parents, and be a practicing, faith-filled Catholic.  In the spirit of comprehensive Youth Ministry and Renewing the Vision, responsibilities include coordinating summer service trips, retreats, Peer Ministry leadership team, and providing various social, justice and service, and prayer opportunities.  Coordinator of Youth Ministry is a member of the parish Pastoral Staff and candidates should have a background in Theology, Religious Studies, or Pastoral/Youth Ministry.  Experience preferred.  Starting date of June 1st.  Salary commensurate with experience and Archdiocesan scale.

Part-Time Coordinator of Youth Ministry

Queen of Martyrs and St. Cajetan Parishes

General Responsibility:

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry provides vision and coordinates the efforts of Queen of Martyrs and St. Cajetan parishes to provide youth ministry and faith formation to junior high and high school students.  The Coordinator will report to the pastors of the respective parishes or their delegate.

Primary Goal:

Develop or build upon the Youth Program at the respective parishes.   Develop the personal and spiritual lives of the youth in the context of a faith community.  To provide a safe and healthy environment for junior high and high school teens to explore their faith, develop their relationship with Christ, and live as disciples.

Coordinator of Youth Ministry

Two Positions - Coordinator of Middle School Ministry and Coordinator of High School Ministry

At St. James the Apostle, a vibrant school and church community in Chicago’s western suburbs, we’re excited about our growing Youth Ministry program!  In a move to provide more individualized programming for our teens, we are looking for TWO full-time youth ministry staff – a Coordinator of Middle School Youth Ministry, and a Coordinator of High School Youth Ministry.  The people we’re looking for have a passion for Christ and the Catholic faith tradition, possess spiritual and emotional maturity, and the ability to see the big picture while paying attention to the small details.  The coordinators will inherit a program with 2 teen Masses per month along with after-Mass programming, as well as some already-developed weekend, mission, service, and related events.

Both coordinators will have a role in recruiting, training, and sustaining core groups of youth and adults.  We’re looking for practicing Catholics who have the following in their backgrounds:

Bachelors Degree in Communication, Ministry, or a related field is desired

Previous experience in ministry, social/youth work or faith formation is helpful

Proven leadership ability in volunteer organizations

Youth Formation Coordinator Grades 7-12

Coordinator of faith formation for grades 7-12 including junior high catechesis, 9th grade Confirmation preparation, Jr. & Sr. High Youth Ministry, and Grade 10-12 catechesis. This requires the training and mentoring of a team of lay adult leaders (volunteers) to coordinate these efforts.

St. Isidore is a suburban (Chicago) parish in the Diocese of Joliet with over 6000 registered families. Jr. high catechesis as well as 9th grade Confirmation preparation is done primarily in homes of parishioners. The position will also involve contact on a regular basis with the junior high students in our day school as a resource to help them experience spiritual growth through extra-curricular events and to direct them into high school youth ministry. The current high school youth ministry offerings involve 30-50 teens on a regular basis. The top priority objective for St. Isidore parish in our recent long-range strategic planning process is the growth of youth ministry to involve at least 300 core high school members by 2010.

Asssistant Coordinator of Youth Ministry

General Description:
St. Therese Chinese Catholic Church, a parish located in the heart of Chicago’s Chinatown, is seeking an Assistant Coordinator of Youth Ministry (ACYM) to help provide vision and coordination for the parish’s efforts in ministry to young people – ranging from pre-school through high school.

 General Responsibilities
The Assistant Coordinator of Youth Ministry (ACYM) helps provide vision and coordination for the parish of St. Therese’s ministry to young people. This includes work in the elementary school and the church regarding youth activities.

 This is a part-time time, year round position. The pay rate is $20/hour for up to 25 hours per week. There will be a 3-month probationary period, at which time, there will be a review with the pastor.

 Desirable Characteristics:
St. Therese Parish seeks energetic talented and creative individual who has good communication skills, loves to work with children and is a good team player.

 The ACYM will be assisting the Youth Minister to:

 The ACYM will:

Director of Religious Education

Director of Children and Family Catechesis

St. Clement Parish,
Chicago, Illinois

The Director of Children and Family Catechesis is a full time staff position with responsibility for the formation of children and their families.  This role includes directing the Parish’s Sunday morning catechesis program, while focusing on family participation in the child’s education as part of adult enrichment.  The Director also works closely with the parish’s school faculty and staff as a resource for curriculum and liturgies and in coordinating the unified sacramental preparation programs.  The Director is responsible for Children’s Liturgy of the Word and for the ongoing development of a youth ministry program.  The Director also coordinates the work of the Ministers of Care and the small group faith sharing program.  Other responsibilities that present themselves as a parochial need and as being a member of the parish staff can be expected. 

 St. Clement is a vibrant urban parish.  While being over 100 years old, it would have to be described as a ‘young’ parish.  St. Clement is known for ministry to a wide variety of populations, the fastest growing being young families. 

 A Masters Degree in Religious Education or Theology and a desire to work in a collaborative style is essential.
