Dear Parish Minister:

 

The Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry is conducting a survey on the state of Adolescent Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The information gathered about what parishes are doing to serve high school age youth who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation will be used as the basis for a greater conversation on best practices on teen sacramental preparation. It will also be used for developing some basic guidelines for sacramental preparation of young people in this age group.

 

We plan to gather several focus groups in the Fall, to continue the discussion on Adolescent Confirmation programs.  If you are interested in being involved in these focus groups, please contact us at ofc@archchicago.org  so we can be sure to invite you to this continued conversation.

Unchaining Confirmation

Our time together will focus on this question:
Given everything we now know about the spirituality of youth and young adults,
youth/young adult ministry, and effective catechesis, how can we enhance Confirmation’s potential to be a more formative experience? We will review the latest research and discuss its implications. We will then explore new dynamics for Confirmation prep that intentionally increase the potential to be more formative.
