To Apply

We welcome your application for the Chicago Catholic Scripture School (CCSS). No particular educational or Bible background is needed to join our classes. However, we do ask students to commit to the program for at least two years.

To apply you do three things:

bullet

Complete the Application for Basic Biblical Studies.
Our next Year One classes will open in September 2008. For the Year One sites, click here.

bullet

Submit a letter of recommendation from a priest, a parish staff member, or an active Catholic. The letter may be sent with the application or mailed/emailed directly to CCSS.

bullet

Participate in a telephone interview with the CCSS Coordinator, Carol Kloss.

When we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule the telephone interview. Because the CCSS curriculum builds your knowledge of Scripture year-by-year, a student can only join the program at the beginning. It is therefore not possible to replace students who drop out.

The purpose of the interview is to help you understand what CCSS offers and what it requires, so that you will have the information you need to make the initial two-year commitment to the program and ultimately to successfully complete it.

Please apply as early as possible so you will be able to read your summer reading book before you begin class.

Please send the application and recommendation letter to:

Chicago Catholic Scripture School
Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry
1025 W. Fry St
Chicago, IL  60622

The application form and recommendation letter may also be emailed to Carol Kloss at ckloss@archchicago.org.

If you would like us to mail you an information/application packet, please contact the Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry at 312-243-3700.

Cancellation and refund policy. The Office for Catechesis (OFCYM) reserves the right to cancel this program if there are fewer than 25 participants. If the OFCYM cancels the program, a full refund will be given to registrants.
