The Chicago Catholic Scripture School (CCSS) offers in-depth study of the Bible for any adult who wants an understanding of Scripture in the Catholic tradition for ministry, faith development, family life, and community life. For more information, see our Mission.

We offer a comprehensive program in which students both learn the "big picture" of the Bible— how the biblical books fit together—and study each biblical book individually. For more information on our program, see the Program Overview.

Classes are held at different sites throughout the Archdiocese. New students begin the CCSS program in Year 1 at the Year 1 sites. 2008/2009 Year One Sites.

No particular educational or Bible background is needed to join our classes. Although some of our students serve in Scripture-related ministries, many others begin our program simply with a love of the Bible and a desire to learn to read it more confidently and deeply. (Read some of our student Testimonials.)

CCSS is managed by the Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Chicago in cooperation with parishes and Catholic educational institutions of the Archdiocese. Our teachers include faculty from Catholic universities and schools of ministry in the Chicago area, as well as other experienced teachers who hold advanced degrees in biblical studies and/or theology. For more information about our teachers, see the list of instructors in the Program Overview.

CCSS also presents occasional special events on Bible-related topics. Everyone is welcome to these events! For more information on our three special events in 2007-2008, see Special Events.

For information on applying to CCSS, see To Apply.
